At the end of 2015, they were turning them around in 3-4 months. Lately they have been taking 9 months to a year to rule on them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-1047072348550728752017-07-29T10:46:57.207-07:002017-07-29T10:46:57.207-07:00Note: this matter is about Jonathon CallisterNote: this matter is about Jonathon CallisterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-20629351781541849462017-07-29T10:34:27.691-07:002017-07-29T10:34:27.691-07:00http://caseinfo.nvsupremecourt.us/public/caseCaptc...http://caseinfo.nvsupremecourt.us/public/caseCaptcha.do?n=%2Fdocument%2Fview.do%3FcsNameID%3D40118%26csIID%3D40118%26deLinkID%3D608980%26sireDocumentNumber%3D17-24680
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-14311639206368480452017-07-29T06:34:12.260-07:002017-07-29T06:34:12.260-07:00Suspension link?Suspension link?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-41133817458273865502017-07-28T16:06:44.927-07:002017-07-28T16:06:44.927-07:00I retired from the practice of law last year after...I retired from the practice of law last year after practicing for 25 yrs. exclusively in Nevada. While there, had a couple of kids. One day, wife and I looked around and started having conversations about whether or not Nevada meant home. There wasn't anything specifically wrong (I'm definitely not a NV basher), there also wasn't anything specifically right. I started looking at which states which had reciprocity or could I waive into based on any of the licenses I had and which we thought we'd want to live in. Narrowed the list down to WA, OR and one or two others (can't remember). Six months later, we're backing the moving truck and heading off to Oregon.

It took awhile to rebuild up my practice. We didn't have any connections when we moved here. But, my wife trusted me, we had some savings and knew it was a gamble.

But, it was absolutely, for us, worth it. I'm still not quite where I was in Nevada - professionally. But, we now live in a place that feels like "home." I'll probably have to work a few more years than I would have had we stayed in Nevada, but we're all much happier and feel more connected in our community than we ever did in Nevada. Again, not bashing Nevada at all, it just wasn't the right fit for us, and I would absolutely do it again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-9911803259260642192017-07-27T16:29:02.066-07:002017-07-27T16:29:02.066-07:00Callister's suspension is one of the weirdest ...Callister's suspension is one of the weirdest I have ever seen. I had a go around with them a few years ago over a relatively minor issue (and it wasn't even my issue but rather a situation where I arguably had some vicarious liability). It goes to a hearing where you aren't allowed to be present and don't have any due process rights to speak of. In my case, they recommended a reprimand, I challenged it in an informal hearing (meaning they can't increase the punishment but you waive your right to appeal to the NSC) and when I was finally able to present my side of the issue in person, lo and behold I got it reduced to a "letter of caution." I should have had that right in the first instance. Although the correct result was eventually reached, it was an unduly expensive and stressful process in my opinion. anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14564934543299625247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637960526696603209.post-42590781611674584882017-07-27T15:25:25.967-07:002017-07-27T15:25:25.967-07:00Due process, 2:49.
