Visions of Sugar Plums

Merry Christmas everyone! A lot of you are already out on vacation--good for you. For those of you at work, pretending to work, stop, go home and spend some time with your loved ones.

If you're drinking this holiday, don't drive.  If you're feeling down this time of year, please reach out for help.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline:  1-800-273-8255
Confidential help from a fellow lawyer is a phone call away
Toll Free: 866-828-0022
or
702-889-9404
Mitch Cobeaga, LCL Coordinator
If you, or any lawyer in Nevada, are in need of confidential assistance with an alcohol, drug, depression, stress or gambling problem, help is readily available through the LCL Hotline. When calling, leave your first name and telephone number. A fellow lawyer, who has also had problems, will call you back. You'll be listened to with an understanding heart rather than scorn, judgment and condemnation. You can talk frankly. The person returning your call is solving problems just like yours, and is living happily and usefully doing so.

    1. This is a very nice sentiment and a good antidote to the vitriol sometimes spewed here, so yay for you and all my best wishes.

    2. Being a racist makes you an asshole, but I'm not really sure how it violates the rules of professional conduct.

    3. Of course. It is absolutely acceptable to have Women's Law Associations to advance womyn; Latino Law Associations to advance Latinos; African American Law Associations to advance blacks; Asian Law Associations to advance Asians; but, hell no, there will never be White Law Association to advance - gasp - whites (and hell no to a White Men's Law Association...and triple hell no to a White Christian Men's Law Association....and quadruple hell no to a White Christian Straight Men's Law Association....). Only certain groups have rights. Welcome to the new era of oppression.

    4. To 9:10: not if the point is to bash Boyd.

To 11:05: thank God Oregon agrees with you and not the reactionaries that filed bar complaints.

To 11:26: he isn't saying "hey whites have rights too." He's specifically aligning himself with white separatists movement. No one would be cool if a different race started a their-race-separatist group. Farrakhan's group was labeled a hate group when they did exactly that.

    6. The guy is a loser, but what is wrong with freedom of speech. His speech is hate, but that is his choice. There is a ton of hate on this site, but we don't try to ban it.
