  3. "Oliver said part of the challenge is that the tax only covers escort services where no sex is provided. If sex is part of the transaction it is not covered by the tax, she said."

Please tell me the State and the Review Journal are not THAT naive. The ONLY reason people call those services is for sex. Does the State really believe men look at those pictures and think "gee, she looks like a nice girl; I wonder if she'd enjoy meeting me at the park in Summerlin for a game of dominoes"?

  4. I am tired of Repubs who are justifying their Trump vote for the appointments to SCOTUS or abortion or second amendment. A vote for Trump is like a vote for Hitler. He hates women, assaults them, Mexicans, Jews, cancer patients, African-Americans, the list goes on and on. No justification, and I can understand why friendships are ending over people who are supporting Trump, because you are an asshole.

    11. Disagree with everything the guy/gal saying who says Trump is a bigot. I think you are using that as an excuse to justify your leftist views. I don't believe it, and think it is overblown. Hillary also has said things I have found offensive in terms of race. She is also corrupt and ineffectual in my view. Trump is not assaulting women and has never. The groper stories were just that. He made some crass comments, that's all. Hillary has done much worse, see Benghazi. I hate the invective being thrown at Trump supporters. I am black and part of blacks for Trump. I don't want to be called names because I choose one presidential nominee over the other. It's my choice, and if anything, YOU should justify YOUR choice for selecting the one under FBI investigation.

    13. And NO EVIDENCE EXISTS that the black church was burned by a Trump supporter. Do you believe that every racist attack in the last 10 years has been verified? Most lately have been hoaxes. Do you recall the "fights" started at Trump rallies? Did you know that 3 DNC employees, including one director, have RESIGNED over the Wikileaks revelation that these "fights" were paid for and orchestrated by the Democrat Party??? You need to start getting your news from else than the Communist News Network. TRUMP supporters have donated over $100,000 on a gofundme for that church. What have Hillary supporters done? She only cares about blacks when it is voting time. Yes, she has come to my black church in Las Vegas to campaign. It's empty promises. I'm off the Democrat Plantation, and I am joining other blacks and Latinos in doing so.

And the same DNC that then replaced DWS with Donna Brazille who was caught red-handed providing Clinton's campaign with debate questions ahead of time at the expense of Bernie Sanders. I guess you're right, the DNC has no connection to Hillary at all. ***eye rolling***

  6. 10:33, you are a moron, and all the people you have cut off due to their support for Trump (hopefully many) are better off for it. First of all, Hitler was a socialist. Trump is not a socialist. Secondly, Hitler was an anti-Semite. Trump is not an anti-Semite. For goodness' sake, his daughter married a Jewish man and converted. Third, Hitler caused many deaths through both war and genocide. Trump hasn't. (Clinton has, though.) Fourth, who would you rather have as president, a guy who said something crude about women in private or a woman who took money from foreign powers for favors while Secretary of State, covered up her husband's sexual assaults and harassed the victims, and violated national security laws concerning classified information, not to mention FOIA? Yeah, but Trump said "pussy." "PUSSY!" (Clutches pearls and faints.)

    1. Your stupidity shows - you act like all Trump ever did that was objectionable was to "say something in private," and that he just said, "PUSSY!" Typical of someone who puts party over country. You only want a Republican to win because of the promises they make every election cycle and the fear mongering sky is falling chicken little horror stories you make up about Democrats. I know its hard to process through the fog of stupid that clouds your brain, but try to think of something other than the same, tired message board rantings that get forwarded to your email from some right wing mailing list you joined.

    2. What an interesting partisan ad hominem attack claiming that the person placing the position you dislike of "someone who puts party over country."

This election boils down (looking at the major party candidates) to a choice between 1) a corrupt, lying, power hungry, deceptive cheat or 2) an unstable, misogynist, sociopath, narcissist, xenophobic, odious, fascist buffoon with delusions of grandeur.

I suggest that the majority of people will agree that both choices suck!

      Delete
    4. 11:43 here, I never said Trump was a good choice nor ever defended him.

As far as I'm concerned both are a potential existential threat to the long term survival of the U.S.A. as it was founded and generally existed since the adoption of the Constitution.

I wish there was a way to reject both candidates and begin anew.

      Delete
    5. I support Trump, don't think he sucks as a candidate, and have seen him grow into the role. I think he will make a good president. So, no, I wouldn't want to start anew, and I don't agree that both suck. I think Hillary sucks. Actually, I think she is a bad person. The rallies attendance has been amazing, and unlike anything anyone has seen in recent history. Literally thousands, and many waiting in line. Hillary's has had only hundreds, or sadly, even dozens. It may not be true with elite type lawyers, but the common man and woman is not pearl-clutching over Trump's remarks and actually think he is a decent guy, albeit flawed.

The best hope for the nation, despite the odds against it, is that neither win an electoral college majority and the election goes to the House of Representatives and them having the wisdom to provide someone better than these 2 losers. God save the U.S.A.

    1. I like Trump's platform and was impressed by his Gettysburg "address" speech a month or so ago. If you had watched it, you might have another opinion. What I find among lawyers, most of whom are liberal, is they are knee jerk when it comes to Republicans. I am also not a Republican, but I am voting for Trump, and volunteering for him. I am doing so in full awareness of his flaws as a candidate. But no candidate is without flaws. I believe in my fellow citizens, and the wonderful people who have come out to these amazing rallies. They are not "deplorable" or "needy" or "super predators" or "basement dwellers" or any of the other insults that Hillary has called those of us who do not support her. (I'm psyched by how many Bernie bros that have switched to Trump). Trump is a successful billionaire businessman with an Ivy League degree. I don't consider failures in business to mean an entrepreneur is a failure. Most have had some ups and downs--for a wage slave or govt employee that is inconceivable--but for those who own their own business (who are many of my clients), failure is an inevitable part of the process. But rising above and coming back on top is the sign of the winner. And Trump is a winner. And we need a winner and one who loves America, which he does. Hillary left 4 to die in Benghazi in a most horrific and treasonous way. I do not trust her. Many do not. Yes, she has experience, but I don't know that it is good experience. We will do great with Pres. Trump!

What I'm getting at is that pretty much all of Vegas went to a school that blog would characterize as a toilet. We still do fine.

  34. I have never voted for a Democrat for President - until this year - and I hope I never have to again. But this time, the choice was obvious. I voted for Hillary Clinton because Donald Trump is an arrogant, ignorant fascist who dog whistles bigots. Trump is an existential threat to our nation.

    1. Only a sucker votes the abortion issue. The fundamental contours of abortion law haven't changed my entire life, and neither Trump nor Clinton, even with appointments, will change that. In four years, abortion law will be just the same as it was today, in 2012, in 2008, in 2004, in 2000, in 1996, in 1992, in 1988, in 1984, in 1980, in 1976...

But go head and tell us, like all the lemmings in past election cycles how *this time* it's different and Cheeto Jesus will change abortion law.

    3. 2:32 pro-life supporters are not so naive to think that Cheetoh Jesus is the one to deliver on the promise of protection for the unborn - especially African American children. However, 2:32 underestimates the passion of those of us in the pro-life community to stay the course with full confidence that our position will be vindicated -- peacefully and legally -- but not in our lifetimes. God bless America (and 2:32 too).

  37. Guys, I know we often argue with each other here about many things, but today I am surprised by the level of anger shown by both sides. I understand both candidates are not ideal, and we are essentially picking what we think are the lesser of two evils in our own views. But if you can spare a second, please read my following two cents:

I was born in the middle east and raised there until I immigrated to the States with a single parent. We grew up poor. We literally "started from the bottom." I was fortunate enough to do well enough in public school to go to college, and then law school. I am proud to call myself an American citizen. I am proud to be a member of the bar. But I cannot be proud to say Trump is my president (should he ever become one). He promotes and represents almost everything my family have tried so hard to get away from in the middle east: woman bashing, religion bashing, ethnocentrism, elitism, and most importantly, fearmongering. I consider myself a moderate. I support liberal ideas and conservative ones. But in the end, I think like a human being and want the best for the majority of all of us. I do not think Trump has that mentality. He wants the best for himself and his circle. He does not come across to me that he truly cares for the American people. He doesn't even have any credentials to even be a president!

I see in prior posts about experience and knowledge being a huge factor in being hired in firms, and demanding salaries. Why can't the same apply to being President? Trump has no experience in the public sector, and no experience outside his own company, which even he admitted has failed many times, and has also been accused of screwing people over in the process. If you truly cannot vote for Clinton, then Johnson or McMullin is another choice.

Clinton is no saint. She is filled with issues. But she is qualified. She has the requisite experience. She knows the job, since being First Lady and Sec of State has gotten her an upfront view of it for 12 years. No one else is more qualified. I just do not see how we can go from voting Obama twice in a row to supporting Trump. It just befuddles me. Trump does not represent the America I know and love, and proud to call my home.

  38. I'm not going to get in the middle of whatever is going on up above, but I know most of the readers of this blog are reasonable, intelligent people, and I'd love to try to have a sane discussion about the election... So here goes nothing.

First, I'm going to start off by saying that I am not a big fan of either of the two major candidates. For most of this election, I was planning on voting for Johnson. But now I'm having second thoughts, both because Johnson is coming across as a nut and because I would really hate myself if my one vote would have somehow made a difference. I'm not going to say who I would switch my vote to if I do, because I think that detracts from what I really want to say (see below).

It seems to me that this entire election has been a case study in cognitive bias. Some people watch something happen (e.g. the Trump bus video, the FBI letter re: Clinton emails) and it validates everything they've ever said/thought about their preferred candidate. Other people see the exact same thing and shrug it off as irrelevant. Even with the debates, I would hear some (intelligent, respectable) people say that one candidate dominated, and then I would hear other (intelligent, respectable) people speak giddily about how the other candidate "won." These people seem to ignore anything their candidate does that is negative, while focusing exclusively on the bad things the other candidate does.

I don't think I've ever seen an election like this. I think it's fair to say that we are looking at major candidates who inspire significant negative feelings from a lot of Americans. But there seem to be just as many people who gladly defend those same candidates. And I'm not talking about policy positions. Even though there are obviously some major differences between the candidates' policies, most of the strong feelings seem to be personal.

This whole thing bums me out. Months ago, one of the late night comedian hosts said that each of these two candidates was the only person in America who had a chance of losing to the other. Meaning, any other Republican could have handily beat Clinton, and any other Democrat would have done the same to Trump. That seems right to me.

How did we get here? And where do we go now?

Look at what happened in the Brexit vote, they turned out like crazy because they were sick and tired of being called uneducated idiots and won the day. HRC folks would be way better off sticking to the issues and nixing the ad hominem attacks.

    6. I tend to like smaller or specialized banks because they are more service oriented. I hate to be treated as a number. I have always been treated well by City National Bank with them going above and beyond to make banking with them a pleasant experience.

Location is always a consideration. I wouldn't use a great bank that takes an hour to do my banking, unless I didn't need to physically go there to do the transaction. Easy and fast electronic transactions go a long way to dealing with banks that are on the other side of town.

    7. I started my firm about 3 years ago, initial with Bank of Nevada. I'm a middle-aged second career attorney but am very comfortable with technology. For the first 6 months or so with Bank of Nevada, their online system did not show a running balance for transactions. Their system did not have any non-bank employee usable mechanism for online bill payment. Their hours are smack dab in the middle of the day and they close at 5pm; I rarely get out of the office by 5pm, let alone 6pm except Fridays. It was horrible. However, if you went into the bank or called the banker assigned to your account, they were great.
I switched to Chase after that because, even with great help, the fact that I couldn't do a lot of things online, through an app on my phone, or at the ATM made me feel that the bank was back in the last decade. Now with a $10k limit for mobile phone deposits I rarely have to go to the bank, and when I do, I have an IOLTA deposit only debit card ('employee card') and can use the ATM to deposit cash & checks. It's very convenient, and I rarely have any issues. I even moved my personal accounts over from Wells Fargo to Chase and recommend both Chase & Wells Fargo for clients' trust accounts.

So - I guess what I'm saying is, I recommend Chase.

It is one thing to say you are voting for her because you like more taxes, war, regulations, treaties that gut the USA for the benefit of others, late term abortions, etc. That's fine. The ballot box is better than the battle field.

It's another thing to say the murderess Clinton is somehow morally superior to Trump. That is ludicrous. Spend an hour on wikileaks.org or projectveritasaction.com and see for yourself. A vile woman by any standard. Unlike that scumbag Obama or Bil Clinton, she doesn't even have the veneer of likability. Evil from the inside out and outside in. She'd start a nuclear war without hesitation as long as her Parkinson's ridden body was safe in a bunker with a ton of gold.
