Thanksgiving 2016

We are headed out of town for the holiday weekend, but here's a short post for those of you working today. Thanks for reading the blog. We hope you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! We'll be back to posting on Monday.  And, the Vegas Golden Knights? Really?!?

If you're struggling this weekend, please reach out for help. It's only a phone call away.

Confidential help from a fellow lawyer is a phone call away

If you, or any lawyer in Nevada, are in need of confidential assistance with an alcohol, drug, depression, stress or gambling problem, help is readily available through the LCL Hotline. When calling, leave your first name and telephone number. A fellow lawyer, who has also had problems, will call you back. You'll be listened to with an understanding heart rather than scorn, judgment and condemnation. You can talk frankly. The person returning your call is solving problems just like yours, and is living happily and usefully doing so.

  1. Blog has killed itself.

  2. Thank you for posting these reminders. Holidays can be very hard times for people who have experienced loss or who are prone to depression and substance abuse.

  3. Law is inherently depressing. We see people at their worst all the time. Volunteering can help but I think outside the legal field is more fulfilling. Pro bono can be as soul crushing as regular practice but without the compensation. Need a good mix.

    1. Agreed. Too often, lawyering is a balance of soul crushing and very soul crushing. Find something that makes you personally happy. Do it frequently.

  4. Dictator, 60 years, small Caribbean island. About $100 million and unlimited number of little children to feed my pervertec needs. Beloved by big shots like Obama, Clinton and the Pope.
