Gotta Catch'em All

  • A death row inmate is seeking a new trial due to the Reno venue and pre-trial publicity. [RJ]
  • Supreme Court Justice Nancy M. Saitta, Governor Brian Sandoval, First Lady Kathleen Sandoval, and House Speaker John Hambrick will launch the initiative. The effort will determine whether state and local resources are being used efficiently and fairly. Nevada will work with the Council of State Government (CSG) Justice Center to complete the review.  Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention chose Nevada as the only state to receive technical assistance to undertake a comprehensive review of its juvenile justice system. Justice Saitta and First Lady Sandoval will co-chair the task force.  Livestream at 2pm at http://nvcourts.gov/supreme [from a nvcourts press release]
  • Sanders just endorsed Clinton; Trump will be picking his veep ahead of the convention next week; and Pokemon Go is grabbing headlines. What else is going on out there?

  4. Someone had posted about updates to the Lionel Sawyer issues and Gordon Silver issues recently and then there wasn't really much of anything. I was wondering if there were any updates.

    2. I noticed that there's no Boyd 2013s on the Nevada Supreme Court. A tragedy if you ask me. Maybe see about taking Saitta's spot?

  6. It's time for RBG to retire. She must be getting senile to think it is appropriate for her, a sitting Justice of the United States Supreme Court, to publically comment on the election the way she has.

    4. I don't ever recall Scalia denigrating a specific candidate DURING an election... Good effort though.
