Briefcases And Backpacks

Today's post is inspired by two of our favorite plaintiff lawyers:  Dennis Prince and Robert Eglet.

  • A reader tells us they spotted Dennis Prince in court with an "executive backpack."  First of all, does anyone have any more details? Was is it exactly? Is it in place of a briefcase or does it supplement a briefcase? Is it professional looking?
  • Another reader tipped us off to this article from Robert Eglet titled, 'Death of the American Trial Lawyer." It's on a site called Vegas Legal Magazine. The reader wants to know if anyone knows anything about Vegas Legal Magazine--i.e. who runs it; is it legit, etc? Also, what do you think about Eglet's article? Is the jury trial going to go the way of the dodo for civil trials? Should it?

  1. Vegas Legal Magazine is mostly run by Preston Rezaee and Tyler Morgan. both are attorneys, although I do not think Tyler practices in NV and Preston runs his office called "The Firm" and they mostly do personal injury. The magazine has some decent articles in it by some notable attorneys. Some are puff pieces. Plenty of advertising. They do throw some good parties though, i'll give them that!

  3. You can find copies of Vegas Legal Magazine at Dona Maria's. It's definitely a well glossed puff piece (Dr. Cash has a big ad on the back) but damn if it isn't a great idea. And the articles are actually pretty good. I've had cases against Preston Rezaee and wasn't impressed with his attorney skills but if he's got marketing skills he'll do just fine.

    1. He named his firm after a book about screwing your clients. He is no Stokes.

  4. It was a black leather backpack with gold zipper. No briefcase, just the backpack. It was definitely interesting. Professional looking? IMO, No.

    1. Something like this, right? https://cdn1.thehunt.com/app/public/system/note_images/10260379/note_view/b7e5833f0e4dd6b3dba38edcdb7fc4de.jpeg Although I thought he was wheeling something too, maybe a rolling briefcase?

  6. I don't know what exactly qualifies as an "executive backpack" but after reading this post, I feel like I need one. Please post shopping links if anyone knows where I can acquire such an item.

  8. I haven't seen Dennis in a while, and never gave it much thought until now, but it is a little weird he carries a backpack. I've seen a few other attorneys carrying backpacks too.
