    1. State bar website shows no discipline for her at this time. Predictions on what will happen?

    2. Was she drunk? I will read article again. I am just shell-shocked, I know Marisa. She use to be Marisa Boshko. Holy shit.

    3. I guess she wasn't, wow. I feel bad for the person she killed. Sorry, Marisa, but this not about you. You killed somebody. Nobody cares that you are a good person, or you want to be a judge. Jesus, get over yourself. The dead person and the family are more important than you. Your kids and your husband are more important than you. Your priorities are fucked up.

    4. Not drunk. She was driving north on US-93. There was a line of bikers who had slowed down at the Pony Springs Rest stop (it's on the west side of the highway). The lead biker was going to turn left into the rest stop. She got impatient, and sped up to pass them on the left (in a no-passing zone/ 2 lane highway). She clipped the biker.

    5. Stupid/arrogant/road rage behavior. Someone dead because she just had to get to whatever God-forsaken place she was headed up there 60 seconds sooner. Some jail time is certainly justified. The article didn't say anything about the sentence I don't think. Anyone know?

    6. Marisa Borders is an idiot. Amazed she passed the bar.

    7. Not only do you kill somebody, because you are in a hurry, but you blame your small children for the distraction. You risk their lives; you killed a man, and then you risk the lives of the other bikers. There are no words for Marisa Borders, you are something!

    8. Boyd graduate. Of course

    9. I don't know her. This was a preventable tragedy for everyone involved. I think she deserves kudos for personally helping others see how tragedies like this one are preventable. Hopefully some will listen to her message. If she had a book, ebook or video available, I think the CCSD could help spread her valuable message.

    10. Jail time seems like overkill to me no pun intended. Perhaps I would feel differently if my family member got killed. But it seems like a better, more useful punishment would be a large $ restitution order whereby she pays a large portion or all of her income to the family of the deceased. Just a civil lawyer here that knows little about criminal law except that we incarcerate way too much in the USA.

    11. 12:43, just a person with a conscience, unlike you

    12. He was just a biker. She is a Boyd graduate. Outta the way! Good to see the Boydsters drive like they practice law.

    13. WOW 2:03 you are not anonymous...you are TASTELESS!

    14. Marisa is an excellent person, always has been. This was a tragedy and she is paying the price. To suggest that she is unrepentant or a terrible person is stupid. She will remember this and carry the guilt for the rest of her life. The people on here who judge her are the type of people in our profession that make me hate lawyers. As an aside, she is not the only attorney in Vegas who is responsible for somebody's death, she's just not the type to publicize it on her own wikipedia page. Looking at you E Brent Bryson.

    16. What is the State Bar doing about Marisa Borders? She should be disbarred. Let me guess, nothing. Board of Governors, disciplinary panel, you should all be so proud of your ineptness.

    17. It is easy to be anonymous and insult Marisa Border and talk as if you have any idea regarding the circumstances of the accident, what took place, or her state of mind during and after this happened. She is my friend I am proud of it. None of you internet heroes would last one hour inside the detention center much less as long as she did. You would never make these comments face to face. She is an excellent person. Boyd School of Law rules. James E. Murphy -

    19. She murdered somebody. She deserves to be in custody. She is not an excellent person. To think so, is disgusting.

    20. She didn't murder somebody, she was convicted of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. There was no intent to kill somebody you criminal law genius. Additionally, there will be no serious state bar discipline because it was a misdemeanor and it was not a crime of moral turpitude or whatever the Bar calls it. It was an accident, so get off your high horse and let the woman live her life.

    21. Murder is open to interpretation and is in the eye of the beholder. Your certainty is questionable. Praying for Marisa and family and the person who died and his family. I believe a little more compassion is required from both viewpoints.

    22. I believe one has to look a little past the criminal codes of Nevada that make this a misdo and not just shrug it off @12:29. Not really on board with insulting other people's opinion. It is just a very sad situation all around.

    23. If you have something to say you need to put it out there and put your name on it. I am not minimizing what occurred either, far from it, and if you knew anything you wouldn't suggest otherwise.

      Delete
    24. Right, that is why you are saying she is an excellent person. She is a killer, and I love it how you think that you control what others do. Keep up the idiocy, my friend.

    25. We should get Eric Johnson's feedback on this, professor of ethics. Did he teach legal ethics to Border?

    26. Yes, I, too, would like to know what the State Bar is doing about Marisa Border. When is the discipline happening? You disciplined Guymon for stealing a necklace. Killing somebody is worse.

    27. I just moved my vote from Letizia to Marshall.

      Delete
    28. 1:22 Why the change in vote from Letizia to Marshall? I don't know Letizia and voted for Marshall. Isn't that department a civil department now which would mean that Letizia who is a Deputy PD would be hearing all civil cases like evictions and Judge Judy damage cases? I wonder how that race will turn out in a one on one. Marshall did not do much of a campaign.

    29. Marshall, because I think she is a better choice. Not a favorite, but a better choice.

  3. Great article in the LA Times about the State Bar of California. "Why the State Bar should be split" by Michael Hiltzkik. Worth reading. Wonder if it has relevance in Nevada. We just had Board elections. Results? The issues are almost the same for the State Bar of Nevada. Bar discipline backlog. Budget and spending. Dues etc.. We should have a topic on this.
