Labor Day Weekend 2015

  • A jury convicted George Tiaffay. Penalty phase starts today. [Fox5VegasRJ; Las Vegas Sun]
  • A Ninth Circuit panel revived a civil rights action in Nevada that had been dismissed by Judge Robert Clive Jones, but they also reassigned it to a different judge...[RJ]
  • DA Steve Wolfson is excited about "LVDA." [RJ]
  • Someone left a threatening Christmas card for a Carson City Justice of the Peace earlier this year. [Las Vegas Sun]
  • Anyone got any exciting plans for Labor Day weekend?

  1. Tiaffay's wife was gorgeous. There should be a sentencing enhancement for killing such a beautiful woman.

  2. Re the Las Raza case: Why would it be "unusual" to dismiss a case for lack of standing? If they don't have standing, how would amending the pleadings resolve that problem?

    1. If I recall correctly, the Ninth Circuit has rebuked him pretty firmly in at least a couple of other high-profile cases, including same-sex marriage.
